چکیده
ROYAL AIRCRAFT ESTABLISHMENT Some simple conical c~mbcr shapes to produce low lift-depend,cnt drag on a slender delta wing G. G. Brebner This note presents some of the theoretical aerodynamic characteristics of narrow delta wings having flat csntre portions and two types of simple conical camber designed to produce zero load at the leading edge at the design C,.,. Slender wing theory is used in the calculations. It is shown that the drag due to lift is comparable with the low values found by Smith and Mangler for wings with more ltwavy" camber lines.

Calculations of the Effects of Blowing from the Leading Edges of a Cambered Delta Wing
The thin jet model applied by Spence to the study of the jet flap is combined with the vortex sheet model applied by Mangler and Smith to the study of leading-edge separation, to study the effect of blowing from the leading-edges of a cambered wing. The numerical techniques used to solve problems of leading-edge separation have been improved, and in the present investigation solutions have been...
متن کاملLow-Speed Wind-Tunnel Tests on some Slender Airbus Configurations
An experimentalinvestigation has been made of the subsonic lift, drag and longitudinal stability characteristics of models representing some alternative slender airbus configurations. For the same wing planform of aspect ratio 1.4 the lift, drag and pitching moment have been measured for two wings of maximum thickness/chord ratio 4 and 9 per cent respectively, both without and with various body...
متن کاملComparison of Lift and Drag Forces for Some Conical Bodies in Supersonic Flow Using Perturbation Techniques
Numerical methods are not always convergent especially in higher velocities when shock waves are involved. A comparison analysis is performed to study the supersonic flow over conical bodies of three different cross sections circular, elliptic and squircle (square with rounded corners) shaped using Perturbation techniques to find flow variables analytically. In order to find lift and drag forc...
متن کاملThe Properties of a Thin Conically Cambered Wing according to Slender-Body Theory
Slender-body theory is used to calculate the lift and drag forces acting on a thin slender delta wing cambered to form part of the surface of a circular cone, in the type of flow in which separation is from the trailing edge only. The boundary condition satisfied by the flow on the wing surface is applied there, instead of on a nearby plane as is usual in linearized theory. This has relatively ...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Canard Position on the Aerodynamic Forces of a Fighter Type Configuration Model
An extensive experimental investigation is conducted to study the effect of canard position relative to the fuselage reference line on the aerodynamic forces of a fighter type configuration model. Aerodynamic forces at different flight conditions are measured in a subsonic wind tunnel. The wing and the canard have triquetrous shapes. Experiments are conducted at Reynolds number of 342209 and at...
